Hi there 👋,

You may have heard (or this may be news to you...), that Google is rolling out a new update this week, the "helpful content update". I've highlighted Glenn Gabe's teardown of the update as my Post of the Week as it's one of the clearest I've read.

Here's a brief summary of what we know so far:

  • Rewards content/sites targeting users first, and not search engines (there's more detail on this).
  • It's a site-wide ranking signal that will continually run (but could still take months to recover from).
  • The signal is weighted, so sites with more unhelpful content will be impacted more.

Best of luck to you all!

Until next week!

P.s did you see I launched a free SEO scraper for Google Sheets last week? You can get the template here.
